Answers, fast.
Yes. We guide you before, during and after your move. From the preparation and the practical things to sort before you leave, to your BSN registration, your residence permit where one is needed, and your Dutch bank account once you arrive. And we are still there for you once you have started work.
Yes, you can. If a particular role needs specific Dutch terminology, we always say so up front. In some cases you also get the chance to learn it as you start or while you work, so you know exactly what is expected of you before you begin.
Yes. We arrange a contract that gives you certainty, so you travel to the Netherlands with confidence and know where you stand before you go.
Yes, always, and that will not change. There is no registration fee, no placement fee, and nothing deducted from your wage for our service. We are paid by the employer. If anyone ever asks you to pay to get a job, it is not us.
A BSN is your Dutch citizen service number, and yes, you need one to work and be paid here. You get it by registering at the municipality, which normally means an appointment and a valid passport or ID. We tell you which municipality, help you book the appointment and explain what to bring, so you are not working it out from a government website in a language you do not read.
Yes. Behind Workays sits a professional backoffice working to the standards of the ABU quality mark. That means contracts, terms of employment and processes meet clear quality requirements, and are audited against them. So you know everything is properly arranged.
Can I apply if I do not speak Dutch?
Yes. English is enough for all of our roles, so you do not need to speak Dutch to work through Workays.
Applying
What terms of employment apply to me?
The exact terms depend on the role, the employer and what has been agreed for your contract. Our backoffice partner is a member of the ABU, which means we always hold to the collective labour agreement (CAO) that applies. So you can be sure everything is properly arranged and that you are paid on equal terms with a colleague doing comparable work.

How is my housing arranged if I come to work through Workays?
Before you travel we arrange suitable housing together, so that it is settled before you start your new job. Housing is a challenge in the Netherlands, but Workays has enough accommodation partners to manage it.
Housing
Do I have to arrange housing for international professionals myself?
No. Workays guides and supports professionals through the whole process of finding suitable housing. A professional always has accommodation arranged before travelling to the Netherlands.
For employers
How long before I know whether I have the job?
We try to move through the process as quickly as we can. After you apply we get in touch and talk you through the next steps. Exactly how long it takes varies from one vacancy to the next.
Applying
Am I entitled to a pension?
Yes. Workays' backoffice partner is affiliated with the umbrella organisation ABU and is required to take part in the StiPP pension scheme.
Pay and contracts
How many people do I share my accommodation with?
You always get your own accommodation. Depending on the location that might be a studio, an apartment or a house. We always discuss it with you.
Housing
Are you certified?
Yes. Our backoffice partner is affiliated with the ABU and holds the SNA quality mark, and all accommodation is SNF-certified. So as a client you can be sure everything is correctly arranged.
For employers
What happens after I apply?
If your profile fits one of our openings we arrange a video call. We talk through what you are looking for, look together at which options suit you best, and go through the selection process with you.
Applying
When do I get my contract?
You receive all the important details in advance, in a job offer to sign, so you know exactly where you stand. The official contract can be drawn up as soon as you have a BSN.
Pay and contracts
What happens to my housing when my contract ends?
When your contract ends we talk in good time about what that means for your housing and what the options are from there. It also depends on the type of accommodation you are in.
Housing
How does your service work?
We work with several contract forms, depending on what you need. What they have in common is that they offer certainty to our professionals and are a more economical route for clients than is usual in this market. We are happy to talk you through them.
For employers
Is my job through Workays guaranteed?
Yes. We arrange a contract that gives you certainty, so you travel to the Netherlands with confidence and know where you stand before you go.
Applying
What is provided in the accommodation?
As a rule our accommodation is fully furnished, so that you can use it straight away when you arrive. The furnishings and facilities do vary by type of accommodation and by what is available. We go through the housing process together and tell you clearly in advance what the accommodation is like and what is there.
